Campaign fundraising cannot be just another "arms race"

The closer the election, the louder the screeching for money.  There has to be another way.

I am on Beto’s mailing list, even though I no longer live in Texas.  I really, REALLY want him to win. He is literally a rock star of the new democratic party.

But… This is the response I sent to another fundraising email from his campaign:

Stop the election fundraising "arms race".  Just stop it!

You don't need that money for TV buys — people pay money to not see ads; they are numb to the ads.  Everyone who is sick of Ted Cruz already knows who Beto is. He has all the name recognition he needs.  Everyone who wants a sign has one.

Beto can win on his message, public appearances, stump speeches and the support of his volunteers.  All this money is just fueling more campaign consultant grifters, greed, waste and corruption.

We need a new model. Working class voters cannot afford this type of politics anymore.

If the Russians were able to interfere with our elections on a shoestring, why can’t our own politicians learn from that?  What is behind the money arms race?  Can we win without engaging in it?
