Over the next few months, Trump will be in full campaign mode, holding hateful rallies across the US. His hate speeches will be amplified by media coverage. The more vicious he gets, the more press he gets. He continually pushes the boundaries of viciousness, normalizing it across the nation of his followers.
I propose that we counter each and every hate event with Moral Marches, in the manner demonstrated by Dr. William Barber, to demonstrate that the majority of Americans reject this behavior.
By remaining silent, we are allowing the people who embrace hate and viciousness to believe that they are ascendant, larger in number than they actually are. They are consistently pushing the Overton window of acceptable civic behavior. We must push back.
Imagine if the 6500 people who attended his latest hatefest in Montana, were confronted with an equal number of Americans outside the rallies, pushing back, saying “No, this isn’t who we are as Americans”.
